The Cascade Alpine Guides by Fred Beckey, also known as the Beckey Guides, are one of the primary resources for beta on Washington climbs. The Cascade Alpine Guide is a 3 book series covering over a 1,000 climbs and high routes in Washington State. The third book though does include a little bit of British Columbia. This series is an encyclopedia for Washington routes with solid and generally quite reliable information, route descriptions and maps.

Maximum Climbing is a great resource to help one improve their climbing through mental and physical training. It’s a meaty book, packed full of information, ideas and training tips. Unlike many other training books out there, it requires the reader to consider and analyze one’s approach and how one relates to climbing. The quality of the information lends this book to being one that many readers will be able refer back to over the years as they climb at harder and harder grade
